Caregiver Support Resources can help with:
- Assisting the caregiver as they navigate the mental, physical, and financial challenges of caregiving
- Understanding the presenting issues of the caregiver (and the care recipient)
- Providing access to verified resources and referrals to help caregiving needs
- Recommending and coordinating services and resources
- Providing guidance and support to the caregiver, ensuring they are also focusing on their needs
Enhanced Caregiver Solutions
There are two options available (you may take advantage of one or both):
Option 1
- Recommendations for care
- Verified referrals to support recommendations
- Coordination of services
- Family conferences
- Collaboration with providers
Option 2
- Comprehensive assessment by a Registered Nurse (RN) or other professional
- Summary and recommendations (plan of care)
- Verified resources/referrals to support recommendations
Additional Services and Resources Available to You
Caregiver Education Sessions
Caregivers are invited to attend Optum’s complementary monthly telephonic education sessions, which are designed to support anyone who is a caregiver of a friend or loved one.
Topics include:
- How to have a successful family caregiver meeting
- Medicare and Medicaid made easy
- Dementia care: understanding behaviors as a form of communication
- Caring for yourself when you’re a caregiver
- Living with grief and loss
Mindfulness Meditation for Caregivers
Caregivers are invited to attend Optum’s complementary mindfulness sessions, which are led by a certified workplace mindfulness facilitator. These sessions are offered weekly for 20 minutes.
Studies show that mindfulness and meditation practices can reduce perceived levels of stress and improve well-being and self-compassion in caregivers.
